Volunteers Needed – Call to Members!!

by Andy Parker, Commodore

As incoming commodore I have been lucky to have a highly qualified board and experts at hand to deal with pressing club issues such as a new water system, piling replacements, plumbing and electrical upgrades and how to finance it. We are all stretched pretty thin time wise.

There are still some jobs that need filling. These jobs require only that you are willing to contribute a small amount of time. There is plenty of expertise available to call on. Almost the entire club has been constructed by the membership. These are jobs that I would encourage new members to take on as a way to get to know the club and visa versa.

1. Social Coordinator. We need somebody to glue together our social programs. Organize “Salty Speaker” nights. Make sure events are advertised in the Mainsheet and on the Web site. Coordinate Summer Solstice, Salmon Bake and Around the Island Race dinners. But mostly be available if anyone has questions.

There is a social committee on the board which will help as well as the officers. Delegation is suggested. Most people can be counted on for one or two events.

2. Work Party Coordinator. We need somebody to organize our work parties. Receive the list of projects. Arrange coffee and donuts. Decide who does what. Fetch or send somebody for parts and supplies. Log in participants for work party credits. The coordinator doesn’t have to be at every work party if you let the officers know that a replacement is required. You don’t have to have a strong fix it background others will help with that.

Accepting one of these jobs satisfies work party requirements. Please contact Andy ASAP if interested (japarker_arch@msn.com).
