Round Island Gunkhole Cruise

September 3 - 5

Over the Labor Day weekend the PMYC sailors will make their way around our island home. This is one of the most popular cruises of the year, being very close to home and a chance for our friends from PMYC to get together and share the stories of their summer sailing adventures.

We gather for the evening in Blakely Harbor on Saturday. Our largest boats anchor down in a spot in the harbor with a good view of the Seattle Skyline at night. The rest of us filter in during the afternoon and either raft up or anchor out.

On Sunday there is a chance to go ashore and hike to Fort Ward or just to explore the inner lagoon. We leave Blakely Harbor late morning to catch the flood through Rich Passage, which turns to ebb around 2:00 PM. We’ll sail to Manzanita Bay for the evening, where we anchor at the north end of the harbor to take full advantage of the beautiful sunsets over the Olympics and the lingering sun.

On Monday morning, we hang out or enjoy the upper ends of Manzanita Bay. Monday afternoon, we come home through Agate Pass when the current turns to ebb around 2:30 PM.

Our cruise captains for the cruise is Keith and Luba Fetterman. If you have questions about the cruise, post them on the PMYC Cruising Google Group or contact Keith Fetterman.
