Vashon Island Cruise
August 7 & 8
On August 7, PMYC adventurers will head to Quartermaster Harbor at the south end of Vashon Island and anchor in the vicinity of the Burton Peninsula, outside the buoys that mark the channel toward the marinas. A favorable tide Saturday afternoon should offer great sailing down East Passage and the reliable north flowing current in Colvos Passage will ease anxiety over when to head home. A 64 acre park on the Burton Peninsula, Dockton Park across the harbor, and major trails on Maury Island may draw those who favor adventures afoot. Others may prefer to scope out changes since their last visit to the village of Burton, site of the Quartermaster Yacht Club (with reciprocal privileges). Don't neglect to bring the sails for your dinghy (if so equipped) given the delightful sailing that can be enjoyed in this wide protected harbor.
Please be sure to fly your PMYC burgee and keep an eye out for your fellow members (our designated cruise captain having been called away). And as an added bonus, nearby Gig Harbor may tempt you to stop for a night on the way home!
