High School Team

Bainbridge Island High School has a Sailing Team that competes on a regional level with events that can lead to national level sailing platforms. BIHS is part of the Northwest District of the Interscholastic Sailing Association (ISSA) that sponsors high school sailing in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Alaska. Eligibility is open to both boys and girls in grades 9 through 12. This is not a PMYC sponsored event.

Participating schools with active programs within the district include Bainbridge Island, North Kitsap, Port Angeles, Friday Harbor and Anacortes.

BIHS sailors can compete for National Championships including the Mallory Cup National Championship (double handed – end of May), the Baker Cup National Championship (team racing – end of May) and the Cressy Cup National Championship (single handed – fall). Participating schools arrange dual and triple club meets during the season – which runs from March to May –in Lasers and Laser Radial (single handed) and FJ, Lidos, Laser II and Vanguard 15 (double handed).
