2016 John Adams Memorial (JAM) Regatta Biggest Yet!

This year's JAM on September 10th and 11th was a HUGE SUCCESS thanks to Becky Mitchell (Regatta Chair), Rusty Lhamon (Principal Race Officer), the hard work of many other volunteers, the support of Andrew Nelson (Sailing Foundation), and the enthusiastic participation of 117 sailors!!

PMYC did an excellent job of hosting sailors and their families from all over the Pacific Northwest; this entailed providing delicious meals, camping space or housing, multiple launching and rigging locations, free green fleet charters for new Opti racers, thoroughly supported race courses, excellent racing, our signature JAMmies, and traditional fleece blanket awards.

Twenty-one junior sailors from Bainbridge (19 PMYC Jr. members) raced in several fleets: Opti Green, Opti Championship, Laser, and Flying Junior. The big 14-boat FJ fleet was the result of an amazing cooperative effort among the high school sailors who pushed for FJ's to be the double-handed dinghy class and then helped each other find boats as well as partners. For three of our PMYC Opti sailors and one Laser sailor, JAM was their very first regatta!

Gorgeous weather was a bonus and the shifty breeze never died, so green fleet got in 13 races and the big course had 9 races (four starts each). BRAVO PMYC!

The final JAM results can be found here, and the JAM Combined Opti results can be found here.

And here's a SUPER COOL video of JAM put together by new PMYC member Ron Friedman with amazing footage taken by his drone:
