The biggest big boat event of the year is coming up. This is the final race of the 2010 Season Series and counts as two separate races for purposes of season scoring. The race will again stop for the night at the new super deluxe Bremerton Marina. By popular request at last year’s event, the Club has reserved a large tent on the south breakwater. The Marina will provide grills and tables to facilitate a post race Barbeque and social. Choose between high quality hamburgers, salmon burgers, or veggie burgers along with the trimmings. We’ll be looking for volunteer cooks.

It’s BYOB though. Begins 6:00 PM Cost TBD (Inexpensive though).

Those who are not planning to race should still plan to attend the 6:00 Social/Dinner.

The 3 Clubs Race was cosponsored by the Port Madison YC, Bainbridge Island YC, and EH YC. The race committee of Lloyd Benson, Mick McMahon, and Tim Longley did an excellent job getting the 1st annual 3 Clubs Regatta off in a light south easterly. The Committee opted for the 9 mile short course–Pt Monroe, Blakely Rock, Eagle Harbor. It was a rich get richer day with all boats in the Division 1 (1st start) finishing in less that 4 hours with the wind fading from behind. Paul Faget’s Synergy 1000-Kilo-got off to an early lead and managed to find decent breeze the whole race to get the “barn door”. Finnegan, Andy Parker’s 6 Meter won the race by just over 2 minutes on corrected time with great boat speed for the 2-6 knot wind conditions and mostly sound tactics despite a short layover at (on?) Blakely Rock.

Although the fleet was small for this first ever event, everyone had a good time and the bbq/potluck at the BI Yacht Club worked out well. Many thanks to Lloyd for setting up the Race Committee. Mick McMahon for supplying & running the committe boat, Tim Longley for being scorer, Ken Nelson and Todd Hornick for being be onstation with the 2nd committee boat, and Steve Sargent and the Bainbridge Isl. YC for setting up moorage and club house the the after race festivities.

This race is being co-hosted by the 3 Bainbridge yacht clubs– BIYC, EHYC, PMYC) and should be lots of fun. The race will start at Pt Monroe @ 10:00 and finish at Eagle Harbor (9-16 miles depending on conditions). There’s a potluck social immediately following the race at the BIYC Club House for all participants as well as non-racing club members. Bring your own beverage, something to bbq and a dish to share (no specific assignments).
The finish line is right off the Club House so it’ll be fun to watch boats finish.

Officials at the finish line can direct visiting skippers to guest moorage.

It looks like we will have 10 junior sailors from PMYC racing this weekend at Poulsbo Yacht Club. Outstanding!

I have attached a flier that Poulsbo YC has created with the details. Please be at Oyster Plant Park right next to the yacht club at noon to launch. We will explain the race course to you at the skippers meeting once we get to the PYC dock. Note that we would like you to bring either some fruit, chips or a bag of cookies to share at the BBQ. All other food will be provided by PYC. Families of sailors are welcome at the BBQ. It will be fun to meet fellow parents of PMYC and PYC junior sailors.

Here is a link for directions. Scroll to the bottom of page and click on the map.

http://www.membermanager.net/poulsboyc/index.php?ID=674

If you have questions on the day of the race please feel free to call Langley Gace on his cell phone 206.947.1483.

Congratulations to Peter Shorett and Andy Parker on Karma–just out of reconstructive surgery and overall winners. Several new boats sailing this year- John Maltman’s Santana 525 Dance, Dave Utley’s freshly restored C&C 48 Morning Star and Dale & Tina Ingalls enormous and sleek Perry 61 Wild Horses.

The only thing hotter that the sailing was the near world class horse shoe competition at the potluck/bbq on Saturday night.

The Friday night weather just doesn't seem to be cooperating. We only had 3
boats venture out into the rain last week, but we still sailed 6 races and
found enough wind to make it fun. The results were:

Roslyn Webber/Alejandro Gil: 24
Ethan Stahl (laser): 17
Jake Robinson (laser): 13

The week before, we had a bigger turnout of 7 V-15s. There was no wind at the
start, but we did manage to find a little breeze as we sailed out of the
harbor. Before the first race, it was suggested that the results don't count
in the series since there was almost no wind. Since the wind did start to
pick up after that, I've only thrown out the first race and kept the rest. I
hope that's a reasonable compromise for everyone!

Bill Jones: 37
Susie and Dave Kaseler: 36
Nate Greason/Jake Robinson: 36
Ethan Stahl/Patrick Taylor: 32
Jacob Webber/Roslyn Webber: 22
Maude Gibbons/Jackson McCoy: 21
Emily Mather/Randy Mather: 10

This week (June 11) is the last in the series and the forecast looks a little better.
The cumulative results for the series so far are:

Vanguard 15

Roslyn Webber: 93
Nate Greason: 83
Patrick Taylor: 72
Bill Jones: 68
Peter Shorett: 50
Maude Gibbons: 49

Stephanie Ahlquist: 41
Zig Burzycki: 41
Lea Fetterman: 40
Dave Kaseler: 36
Suzy Kaseler: 36
Jake Robinson: 36
Ethan Stahl: 32
Banning Jones: 31
Andy Parker: 28
