Sunday April 26, 12:00 pm

Conditions permitting, we’ll parade from the club out past Fay Bainbridge Park then there will be an optional, pursuit style race run on Kwindoo starting off Point Monroe. Several of the famous PMYC prams will be on hand and there will be prizes for the most festive boats and crew. Big Boats and Dinghies welcome.

Dock call for the parade and discussion of race rules at 12pm. Departing PMYC at 12:30 pm. Race begins at 1:30 pm. Potluck BBQ afterwards at the Club starting at 4:00 pm.

RACE DETAILS (UPDATED FOR 2026):

The Opening Day race course and times are set! We will race from a virtual start line near Fay Bainbridge to the Jeff Head mark #3, then to #5 mark near Bloedel, then finish near HC entrance speed limit buoy. Distance about 5 miles. Pursuit format. The course is in Kwindoo as (Big Boat) PMYC Opening Day Race 2026

First boat starts at 1:30 pm (#300) and faster boats after that... If you don't have a handicap number, we will sort it out at the skippers meeting at noon at PMYC!

SPECIAL RACE NOTE:

If winds are 12 knots or less.... As incentive to "dress ship" races who carry a masthead-to-deck streamer of display flags throughout the race will be granted a 2 minute improvement to their start time.

4th Annual Port Madison Oyster Celebration & Potluck (05/15/2026)

We are blessed with an amazing bounty out our front door.

Please celebrate spring with some of our local harvest - oysters from the Port Madison Community Shellfish Farm. This cooperative is just outside of Hidden Cove and is the source for the famed "Port Madison Petites".

The evening will include:

Very fresh oysters, both raw and BBQ.
Shucking training and oyster ecology conversation by Josh Bourma - Biologist and Shellfish Farm Manager.
Fireside vinyl mixing by Seth Muir.

IF YOU PLAN ON EATING OYSTERS... PLEASE REGISTER ASAP to ensure we get enough. This will cover the cost for the oysters and Josh's time.

IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO EAT OYSTERS... NO NEED TO REGISTER, but there is a non-Oyster Eater $0 ticket.

BYOB, and Potluck dishes, appetizers, deserts, and other BBQ provisions. Please also consider your favorite oyster preparation and/or

We have something truly special right outside of Hidden Cove, let's celebrate the harvest.

We may need about 5-10 people on Friday Morning to help with the harvest and cleaning of oysters. We will send out a separate email as the time gets set for beach harvest. MORE DETAILS REGARDING THE HARVEST WILL BE POSTED IN LATE APRIL.

PMYC Sailing School 2026 | For the FUN of Sailing

Vanguard I and II Class

Note - we are no longer accepting registrations for Vanguard I; registration for Vanguard II is still open.

This class welcomes teens who are new to sailing, new to V‑15s, or already experienced in the boat. Sailors of all levels will build competence and confidence in boat‑handling, seamanship, and sailing theory. Students will deepen their understanding of the wind and water while continuing to develop confidence across a range of conditions. V-15 sailors often take day trips to places like Indianola dock and Fay Bainbridge Park, which gives firsthand experience with tides, current, and wind shadows. Sailors with limited experience will be paired with advanced V‑15 sailors during on‑the‑water sessions, creating a supportive environment where peer leadership and hands‑on learning help everyone progress.

Future Instructor Training Program (NEW in 2025)

After a successful pilot program, we're offering advanced V-15 sailors another opportunity to experience what being an instructor at PMYC Sailing School is all about. You will learn the basics of instruction and help facilitate learning for new teen sailors on and off the water--all with the guidance and support of your V-15 instructors and the Sailing School leaders.

This is a great class for those wanting to learn the fundamentals of racing or for sailors preparing for the upcoming regatta season — especially those who already feel comfortable on the water and are eager for more challenge, speed, and strategy.
